The 36th Kagyu Monlam, the most important annual activity of the Karmapa, now is taking place in India. The devotees from the entire world swan into Bodhgaya, only to hope to see the “Guru” and listens to his teachings under his presence. However, it is weird that the Karmapa has not showed up since the commencement on January 9th.

Nevertheless, the Karmapa’s “ghosting” didn’t affect the devotee’s love and admiration towards him. As the Buddhist leader of the Kaygu sect, he promoted the doctrines of vegetarian diet and taking the precepts. In 2017, He also held the ceremony of granting vows to the bhiksuni, invited 20 bhiksuni to attend the ceremony and gave teaching for them to learn and practice the most fundamental Buddhist practice of the “Three Refuges and Five Precepts.”

The Three Refuges and Five precepts are the requirement vows that an ordained monk must keep. The Five precepts includes: prohibition of killing, prohibition of theft, prohibition of illicit sexual relations, prohibition of false speech, and prohibition of intoxication. The third precept, prohibition of illicit sexual relations, refers to inappropriate sexual relationship. Therefore, the monks and nuns are asked to behave themselves and limit sexual desire. However, the inconvincible fact is that the 17th Karmapa, the leader of the Tibetan Buddhist Kagyu sect, violated the precepts first, even if he is the role model of all the devotees.
